My January Decorations were in desperate need of something New Years-ish. After searching and searching, I couldn't find the 2013 sign that I was looking for so, of course, I decided to make my own.
Making a framed 2013 sign is a simple project. If you have scrapbooking paper, a frame and stickers, you can make one of your own. I found all of my supplies at Michael's and spent a whopping $10 on the whole thing. Here's what you need:
Supplies
Adhesive scrapbooking letters $3
Light blue vellum scrapbooking paper $1
Patterned scrapbooking paper $1
Picture frame $5
Scissors (already had)
Total cost: $10
Directions
1. Cut paper to fit the frame.
2. Center stickers on the vellum and press firmly.
3. Place vellum against the glass, then place the patterned paper behind it.
Close the frame and display!

Katie, this is such a pretty sign and goes perfectly with your vignette. As I was reading your post, I realized that I had just bought some of that same light blue vellum at Michael's the other day. It never occurred to me to layer it over another patterned paper to get a different look. Duh! Very creative!

Thank you so much Debbie! It was so funny, I had the vellum laying on top of the patterned paper in my cart and that's when it hit me to use it. Otherwise, it would have never dawned on me either. Haha!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! This is a really neat way to announce the new year within your home.

ReplyDeleteLove that sign and going to make it. Don't have glass for frames but guess that'll have to do as I have everything else. Just need to paint the frames and get it going. I also printed out some new years free subway art off a blog so will frame them both and hang them up. Liking that more all the time.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look up where Mayfield, KY is. We used to live north of Bowling Green before we moved to Grand Junction, CO area 8 1/2 yrs. ago. I still miss our place there, out in country. Was so pretty but weather there hard on me, I have asthma, arthritis and allergies. It's very expensive to live here in CO.
Really glad I found your blog, will be visiting very often. Look forward to seeing your new year projects.
Nice frame. Thanks for your comment on my blog.

This is a great idea! Our house is in need of some decoration because it has been striped of its holiday spirit. I think I'll make this using a bigger frame though! Hopefully the husband approved of the idea. If not, I'll still make it ;)
ReplyDeleteFound you on the CraftOManiac link up and I'm now following!
