DIY Painted Pine Cones

A bowl of painted pine cones gave my January Decorations the natural touch that it needed. Sophie was the one who spotted a ton of pine cones in our neighbor's yard. They were surprised that we came to the door and asked if we could take some, but I didn't feel right about invading someone's yard without them knowing. And it was a good lesson for Sophie about asking, even if you know the answer will be yes.

Anyway, the trick to these was angle. For this look, make sure the nozzle is at the same level as the pine cones. You can also paint these by hand with acrylic paint.  To spray paint, here's what you need:

Supplies

Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze Gloss spray paint
pine cones

Directions

Make sure the nozzle of the spray paint is at the same level as the pine cones. Spray until you get the desired level of coverage and rotate until the pine cone is completely painted.

Once dry, arrange in a bowl or tray.

  2. I've been wanting to paint some pine cones for a while. I love how yours turned out! Did you have sap on yours? We have lots of pine cones in our yard but they're all covered in sap so I'm not sure if I want to craft with them.
