Do you have a spot in your house that you change seasonally? I have this little wall between the kitchen and dining room that I like to change for every holiday. (If you remember, I hung my 3D Boo Wall Art here too.) With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I thought this Rustic Button Heart would be perfect for my seasonal wall.
I found the frame at Goodwill and painted and antiqued it using this technique before sanding it. The rest of the supplies came from Hobby Lobby and Michael's. Here's what you need:
Supplies
Burlap
Red felt
Red buttons
Tacky glue
Sand paper
Mod Podge (matte or satin)
Picture frame
2. Cut a heart shape out of felt and glue to the burlap using Tacky glue.
3. Attach red buttons of all shapes, shades and sizes to the heart using Tacky glue.
4. Once dry, sand edges, place in the frame and hang.
Tomorrow I'll show you how to make the Rustic Love Sign!

Thanks so much Tanya!
DeleteI like the felt and the buttons together. It gives the design a very clean but textured look. The frame is great too. Do you have a tutorial where you talk about antiquing it?
ReplyDeleteHi Emily! Here is the tutorial about antiquing it:

But that doesn't include the sanding. The sanding is just kind of a preference thing. I just sand the high points and any areas I think the paint would have come off naturally.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
