Making coat racks is an easy project that I did in a weekend and let me tell you...now that each kid has their own place to hang stuff, it is so much easier to find everything. No more bag piles on the floor and our entryway looks so much better!
Ready to make your own? Here's what I used:
3 unfinished wood plaques (6" x 13 1/2")
3 sets of double clothes hooks
6" unfinished wood letters
Valspar Premium Finish spray paint in Satin White
1 1/4" screws, 1" anchors
Drill and 3/16" drill bit
Command picture hanging adhesive strips
Drill holes into the wooden plaques. Using the 3/16" drill bit, drill one hole on each side of the plaque that will secure into the wall (mine were about 1/2" from each edge). Then position the hooks where you want them and drill those holes.
Spray paint the wooden plaques and wooden letters. Let it dry overnight before adding the second coat.
When the paint has dried completely, screw the hooks into the plaques.
Measure and drill holes into the wall where you want your coat racks to go. (If you are drilling into drywall, use plastic anchors.) Screw coat racks into wall. Using the Command picture hanging adhesive strips, secure letter to the wall.
That's it! What do you think? For more great project ideas, check out the DIY page!
